Kristin Dickie is a licensed mental health clinician and the founder of Silver Lining Counseling, where she specializes in working with adults who appear high-functioning on the outside but feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck internally. She works primarily with professionals and women navigating trauma, anxiety, substance use concerns, and nervous system dysregulation.

Kristin's Approach to Healing

Kristin’s approach is trauma-informed, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based care. She understands that many clients seeking therapy are not in crisis, but are exhausted from managing stress, perfectionism, or long-standing coping patterns that no longer serve them. Her work focuses on helping clients understand why their symptoms exist and how to create meaningful, sustainable change — not just short-term symptom relief.

Kristin integrates modalities such as EMDR, trauma-focused therapy, and nervous system-based interventions to help clients process underlying experiences that contribute to anxiety, emotional reactivity, or reliance on unhealthy coping strategies. She believes therapy should feel safe, practical, and empowering — not judgmental or overwhelming.

As a practice owner, Kristin is deeply committed to ethical care, clinical excellence, and reducing stigma around mental health treatment. Kristin provides both in-person and virtual therapy for clients located in North Carolina, and virtual therapy for those located in SC.  Kristin works closely with a team of clinicians at Silver Lining Counseling to ensure clients are matched with the support that best fits their needs.

Kristin looks forward to supporting you on your recovery journey!

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to have everything figured out before starting therapy?

No. Many people begin therapy because they feel overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, anxious, stuck, or unsure how to move forward. Therapy can become a space where you do not have to carry all of that alone while trying to figure everything out by yourself.

What is therapy with Kristin like?

Kristin’s approach is collaborative, supportive, emotionally grounded, and nonjudgmental. Many clients appreciate having a space where they can slow down, feel understood, and explore difficult emotions or patterns without pressure or criticism.

What if I am used to handling everything on my own?

Many individuals seeking therapy are used to appearing highly capable externally while privately struggling with stress, perfectionism, burnout, anxiety, or emotional overwhelm underneath the surface. Therapy can provide support without needing to continue carrying everything alone.

Can therapy help if I feel emotionally overwhelmed but don’t know why?

Yes. Some individuals begin therapy with a clear understanding of what they are struggling with, while others simply know they feel emotionally overwhelmed, disconnected, anxious, exhausted, or stuck. Therapy can help create space to better understand what may be contributing to those feelings.

How do I know if Kristin is the right fit for me?

The connection between therapist and client is an important part of the therapy process. If you are looking for therapy that feels supportive, collaborative, emotionally safe, and grounded, Kristin may be a good fit for you. A consultation can also help determine whether working together feels comfortable and aligned with your needs.
