5 Good Reminders for This Week

I know I just wrote about tips for getting out of a holiday rut, but I thought it would be helpful to write about a few things to remember while we proceed through the holidays. The stressors of the holiday season can easily overwhelm us and get us down. So here are a few good reminders for the next few weeks!

Remind yourself about the following:

  1. Your priorities for the holidays

It’s easy to get sucked into the priorities of others over the holidays, which can leave us feeling frustrated and resentful. Remind yourself about what your priorities are and stick to them!

  2. Who and what you are grateful for

The holidays are about more than just presents, it’s about spending time with family and loved ones. Remind yourself about who and what you are grateful for this season.

  3. Your self-care routine

As much as you can, stick to your self-care routine. Keeping to your self-care routine will allow you to manage any stress that comes your way.

  4. Your boundaries

If you have identified boundaries for yourself and others over the holidays, do what you can to stick to them. When we don’t stick to our boundaries, this can lead to frustration and resentment. It’s important to remember that we are the ones that are responsible for sticking to our boundaries.

  5. Keep expectations reasonable

I said this in my previous post, but keeping your expectations of yourself and others reasonable will be very helpful in managing stress. When it comes to expectations of yourself, check in with yourself each day and evaluate whether or not your expectations seem reasonable for that day.

Have a safe and happy holiday!
